This year we awarded four exceptional students with our ’58 Foundations & Waterproofing “Achievers Scholarship” prize. This scholarship gives us the opportunity to give back to the local community and support students in their educational journey. Applicants were encouraged to demonstrate integrity – one of our core values – and commitment to their chosen major.
“We are always looking for ways to support our local community. Our scholarship fund allows us to give something back to exceptional rising college students,” said Kevin Coppersmith, Co-Owner and Chief Executive Officer. “There were hundreds of great applications, it was hard to narrow it down to only four!”
The ways that integrity and honesty play a part in the scholarship winners career goals reflects the long-standing culture of ’58 Foundations & Waterproofing. As a company, we’re committed to seeing more people like our four winners become a greater part of the workforce of tomorrow…maybe even a ’58 employee!
“We are proud to support these four young students with their college tuition,” said Richard Fencil, Co-Owner and Chief Marketing Officer. “All of the winners really hit home on what integrity means to them. I was very impressed.”
2022 Winners of ’58 Foundations & Waterproofing’s Annual Achievers Scholarship Fund:
Porter Cook: Brigham Young University, Class of ‘26
Pursuing a career in horticulture and architecture, Porter is passionate about helping others with landscape design. When asked about his opinion on integrity, he responded with “What integrity means to me is keeping to your word.” This is a great value to carry in all aspects of life! Porter told us at ’58 Foundations & Waterproofing that the scholarship will be “absolutely a great blessing” as he begins his journey in higher education!
Iris Litrell: Kennesaw State University, Class of ‘26
After doing bookkeeping and invoicing at a consulting firm for trial lawyers, Iris had developed a passion for accounting and decided to return to college for an accounting degree! Iris’s interest in accounting goes beyond just the numbers, she says “as a lifelong learner, I am excited to pursue a career in which I can once again make an impact on the lives of others.” ’58 Foundations & Waterproofing is happy to be awarding Iris with this scholarship as we too can relate to the mission of helping others and improving their lives!
Nicolas Shirley: University of Texas, Class of ‘26
When asked about his field of study, Nicolas explained that he was pursuing a career as an architect. His reasons for this field intertwine with his idea of integrity, “to be a great architect one needs to have integrity…it means to be open and considerate of your client’s opinions and to have safety in mind when designing your structure.” We couldn’t agree more, Nicolas! We too consider our customers’ safety and interests when we do our important work. So, we know you’re going to make a great architect!
Madison Wade: University of Cincinnati, Class of ‘23
Madison is the Chief Information Officer for Lindner Women in Business at the University of Cincinnati. But now she embarks on the final year of her finance degree. She intends to attend law school afterwards. She expressed that she wants to “help others understand what is being put in front of them and make sure there is equality in the treatment of citizens in the housing and finance markets.”
Well said, Madison! This resonates deeply with ’58 Foundations & Waterproofing and our commitment to honesty and good communication with our own customers. We’re proud to have you as one of our scholarship winners!
