58 Foundations Gives Back: Honoring 9/11 Through Service

On September 11th, the 58 Foundations (DBA Vanterra Foundations) team stepped away from job sites and into the community for 9/11 Day, the nation's largest annual day of charitable engagement. We're proud to have taken part in this federally recognized National Day of Service and Remembrance.

David Paine and Jay Winuk founded 9/11 Day shortly after the September 11th attacks. Their idea was simple: take back the day, and turn the anniversary into one of doing good instead of only grief. It's since grown into the largest day of service in America, officially recognized under federal law, with more than 30 million Americans taking part each year.

Representing 58 Foundations with pride, VP of Field Marketing Operations Haley Damon and Service Advisor Ruben Van Leuven recently rolled up their sleeves to give back. Joining hundreds of volunteers at Camden Yards, our team helped pack over 176,000 meals for Marylanders facing hunger through the Maryland Food Bank. Their local efforts contributed to a massive, single-day initiative across 51 cities that packed more than 17 million meals nationwide.

Reflecting on the experience, Damon shared, "I was honored to represent 58 Foundations & Waterproofing at this event and join others in turning remembrance into action. Giving back to the communities we serve is one of the most meaningful ways we can honor the spirit of 9/11 Day. Learning that 1 in 3 Marylanders are facing food insecurity put into perspective how much every volunteer effort, every meal, and every donation matters. Together, we can create real impact for families in our communities."
