Mold spores are virtually everywhere. But they won’t grow until there is enough moisture present to activate those spores and begin their growth cycle. But if there is enough moisture and those mold spores are on a food source, it won’t be long before it starts to grow. For example, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), mold typically takes 24 to 48 hours to grow after a flood if the right conditions are met.
